German viola, probably late 19th Century, unlabelled. Dark varnish over a red ground, one-piece back of narrow flame. Well made instrument, very robust. Lob is 15.5 inches, 393mm. The sound is smooth and clear, very even across all the strings. Condition: Dings and scratches but no cracks or repairs.
