Three-quarter size violin labelled 'Babos Bela Geiegenmacher Hermannstradt 1919. Branded on the back of the scroll 'Concert Violin Straduar'. Gold-brown varnish. Two-piece back with nice flame. Smooth, sweet tone. Condition: Repaired crack and light warp on lower right rib, extending from the endpin area. Two hairline cracks descending from the left f-hole. Some chewing (mice?) to the right f-hole, but only superficial - the shape of the f-hole is not altered. A shave knocked off the right lower bout edge, but not reaching the purfling. Otherwise just the usual light dings for an instrument of this age. Set up with Helicore strings, new pegs, bridge and Wittner tailpiece. Price: €350
