Early 20th Century Mirecourt violin, labelled Modele d'apres Antonius Stradivarius etc. Two-piece flamed maple back. Red-brown varnish. Scroll outlined in black ink. Very attractive instrument with a smooth, even tone and plenty of power.
Condition: The back centre seam has opened. It has been repaired and the original cleats reglued. (This is a very common fault on these Mirecourt instruments, and just about the only thing the Mirecourt makers got wrong!). There are some deep scratches to the varnish around the bridge, but no damage to the wood. Usual minor knocks and dings for a violin of this age.
Set up with new rosewood pegs, new bridge, Helicore strings and Wittner tailpiece.
