437 San Stefano
Early to mid-20th century French violin, labelled Copie de Antonius Stradivarius etc. and also Manufacture Francaise, d'armes & cycles Saint-Etiennes San Stefano, etc. A nice example of Mirecourt work, with beautifully straight-grained spruce for the top and  lightly flamed maple for the back. The red-gold varnish is typical Mirecourt. It is warm, responsive and easy to play - a real pleasure.
Condition: A few light knocks to the varnish but nothing of any significance. No cracks, repairs or other issues.
Set-up: New rosewood pegs, new soundpost and Aubert bridge, new Helicore strings and Wittner tailpiece.
