Late nineteenth - early twentieth century French violin, labelled copie de Antonius Stradivarius etc. Typical Mirecourt work, made with good woods and having inlaid purfling and a rich, deep-red varnish. Really good sounding fiddle - warm and slightly dark, nicely responsive with plenty of power. Condition: There is an old repair to the left lower corner, a bit untidy but without significance. Otherwise just dings and scratches commensurate with age. Set-up. It has its original fingerboard, which is not ebony. Probably pearwood. New sound post and Aubert bridge, new ebony pegs, new Wittner tailpiece and Helicore strings. Price, including a new bow and case: SOLD
