529 Krausch, Vienna
Mid-to-late nineteenth century violin, labelled Georg Adam Krausch Vien, 1869. Good handmade violin, made with nice woods and oil varnish; brown over a golden ground. The instrument has the hallmarks of the region and era, but I can't guarantee the veracity of the label. The voice is clear, sweet and smooth - an attractive instrument at many levels.
Condition: A good share of dings and scratches, but nothing more serious. Very clean for its age.
Set-up: New rosewood pegs and chin rest, new sound post and Aubert bridge, new Wittner tailpiece and Helicore strings.
