Early to mid-20th century French violin, without its original label. Very good example of a Mirecourt violin, the back of narrow curl and with an interesting counter-grain; very attractive. Typical red-gold varnish. Nicely-carved scroll with black points. The sound is rich and round with plenty of character. Condition: A very short saddle crack, repaired and stable. Minor dings and varnish loss. Set-up: New rosewood pegs and chin rest, new soundpost and Aubert bridge, new Helicore strings and Wittner tailpiece. Every Wild Goat Fiddle is checked carefully, and fingerboards and top-nuts are adjusted or replaced as necessary. Price, including a new case and bow: €1300
