584 Celebre Vosgien 1/4

Early 20th Century Mirecourt violin, labelled Celebre Vosgien. Very typical of this kind of instrument, with a rich, ox-blood colour and scratched-on purfling. There is a little bit of flame or quilting in the one-piece back, which is attractive. It is on the big side of a quarter-size, so it has a good stromg sound with more character than is usual. These small instruments are becoming very scarce now, so if you have a potential young fiddler coming along, get one while you can!
Condition: Dings and scratches, as can be expected. No cracks, repairs or other damage.
Set up: New rosewood pegs, new bridge and soundpost, new Wittner tailpiece and Tonica strings.
