Late nineteenth / early twentieth century German viola, labelled Rudolf Gotz, kunstgeigenbauer. LOB 15.75 inches, 40cm. Good old workshop viola, made with plain woods but good craftsmanship. The sound is mature, warm, mellow. even across all the strings. a good instrument for an advancing student or for chamber music.
Condition: Scratches and varnish wear commensurate with age, but no cracks, repairs or other issues.
Set-up: New ebony pegs, new sound post and Aubert bridge, new Helicore strings and Wittner tailpiece. Every Wild Goat Fiddle is checked carefully, and fingerboards and top-nuts are adjusted or replaced as necessary.
