606 French Viola
Late 19th, early 20th century Mirecourt viola, labelled copie de Antonius Stradivarius etc. LOB is just under 16 inches, 401mm. This would have been the basic model when it was made, equivalent to the Medio Fino in the violin. It is made with plain wood and the purfling is scratched on and not inlaid. The sound, however, is not plain or basic. It is warm and mature and characterful. Terrific value for a viola of this quality. There aren't many around, and even fewer at this kind of price.

Set-up: New rosewood pegs, new soundpost and Aubert bridge, Superflexible strings and Wittner tailpiece.
