635 Andreas Borelli
Early 20th Century French, labelled Fabricatori Instrumenti Musica Andreas Borelli 1909. Looks to me like a Mirecourt instrument, but it possibly is what it says on the label. I don't guarantee it. Gorgeous instrument, made with spectacular birds' eye maple and very tight and even-grained spruce. Interesting arching, quite high. Beautiful craftsmanship, very fine edgework. Sound is clarion-clear, very bright, even across the range. Very responsive.
Condition: Some rubbed patches on the back and a few blemish spots on the front where something acidic has been dripped on to the varnish. All superficial, however, - no cracks, repairs or other issues.
Set-up: Original rosewood pegs (French model, as used in Mirecourt), new chin rest to match, new soundpost and Aubert bridge, new Wittner tailpiece and Helicore strings.
