731 Collin-Mezin
Early to mid twentieth century French violin labelled No 318 1925 (1915?) and C.M. G.S. This is a violin from the Collin-Mezin workshop, one of the most prestigious of the Mirecourt names. The label would have originally read G SANTORINO, which was a brand name used by Collin-Mezin, but that part is missing. It's a high quality instrument made with good woods and tidy workmanship. The voice is rich, warm and powerful. It will work equally well for traditional or classical music.
Condition: It has clearly had very little work and looks practically new. Just a few insignificant knocks and scratches.
Set-up: Original rosewood pegs, adjusted. Original soundpost and original bridge, with the Collin-Mezin motif. New Wittner tailpiece and Infeld Red strings.
Price, including a new case and bow: €2700
