760 Geronimo Barnabetti
Late nineteenth or early twentieth century French violin, labelled J.T.L Geronimo Barnabetti. These violins were the top-of-the-range Mirecourt instruments of the day, and with good reason. This one is very typical, made with top woods, a one-piece back of broad curl, fine workmanship and attractive, deep-red varnish. The sound is mellow and mature, very warm, very even across the range. An instrument for a professional.
Condition: Good for age. One or two knocks and dings, but nothing structural. No cracks, repairs or other issues.
Set-up: New rosewood pegs and chin rest. New soundpost and Aubert Luxe bridge. New Wittner tailpiece and Obligato strings.
Price, including a new case and carbon-fibre bow: €3200
