English violin, labelled Designed and finished by SW Wilkinson, British Violinmakers Guild, 1921, etc. Well-made instrument with high arching, an attractive flamed back and dark varnish. The sound is bright and clear, even across the range.
Condition: One old crack, close to the edge, well-repaired and stable. Otherwise just the usual signs of wear; nothing more serious.
Set-up: New rosewood pegs, new soundpost and bridge, new Helicore strings and Wittner tailpiece. Every Wild Goat Fiddle is checked carefully, and fingerboards and top-nuts are adjusted or replaced as necessary.
