Early to mid-twentieth century French violin, labelled Modéle d'apres Joannes Franciscus Colonbatus 1734. A second label has been scratched out. Nice instrument made with fine-grained spruce and good flame on the two-piece back. Very attractive ginger varnish. The sound is round and bright, ringing, jaunty.
Condition: A few dings and varnish scrapes but no cracks, repairs or other issues.
Set-up: New rosewood pegs, new bridge and sound post, new Wittner tailpiece and Helicore strings.
