Early to mid-twentieth century French violin, labelled Modéle d'apres Antonius Stradivarius etc. High end instrument, made with the best tight-grained spruce and a beautiful one-piece back of narrow curl. The best wood was saved for the best makers in these Mirecourt workshops, and it really shows here. This fiddle is a cracker. The workmanship is remarkable - look at the carving of the scroll and the fine edgework. It sounds as good as it looks: warm, smooth, responsive and resonant. A cracker of a fiddle.
Condition: A few blemishes to the red-gold varnish, but no cracks, repairs or other issues.
Set-up: New rosewood pegs and chinrest, new bridge and post, new Wittner tailpiece and Helicore strings. Every Wild Goat Fiddle is checked carefully, and fingerboards and top-nuts are adjusted or replaced as necessary.
