Late 19th/early 20th century three quarter sized Bohemian violin, labelled The Maidstone. These violins were made in large quantities in small workshops in Germany and Czechoslovakia and were among the earliest instruments accessible to people of average income in Europe. They are well made and unusually robust - I have rarely seen one with any kind of damage. This one is made with nice woods and has a bright, smooth and even sound.
Condition: Some blemishes to the varnish visible in the photo of the front, but otherwise very clean. No cracks, repairs or other issues.
Set-up: New ebony pegs, new bridge and sound post, new Wittner tailpiece and Helicore strings. Every Wild Goat Fiddle is checked carefully, and fingerboards and top-nuts are adjusted or replaced as necessary.
Price, including a new case and bow: €600
