550 M Couturieux
French Strad Copy, made in the Laberte workshops in Mirecourt in the early part of the 20th Century. It is made with good wood and has the hallmarks of an instrument from the higher end of the range. I have had several of these Couturieux violins, and they are always good. This is one of the best I've heard. It is an absolute delight - it nearly plays itself. It has a big, warm voice with loads of power and character. You'd be heard in any session or orchestra with this. I predict that it won't hang around for long.
Condition: A few bits of missing varnish and the usual dings and scratches, but no cracks or repairs.
Set-up: Original rosewood pegs. New soundpost and Aubert bridge. New Helicore strings and Wittner tailpiece.
