Early twentieth century French violin, labelled Modèle d'après Joannes Franciscus Celoniatus. Well-crafted, mid-range Mirecourt workshop instrument. Joannes Franciscus Celoniatus was another early Italian maker. The fiddle looks very like a Strad copy to me. Good woods; very fine-grained spruce and lightly-flamed maple. This is a super trad fiddle - easy to play, deep, warm, loads of power and very responsive. Condition: One minor repair to a small f-hole crack, cleated inside. Otherwise just the usual dings and scratches. Set-up: Original rosewood pegs, readjusted. New sound post and Aubert bridge, new Wittner tailpiece and Helicore strings. Price, including a new case and bow: SOLD
