Late nineteenth century Dresden workshop violin, labelled Copy of Nicholas Amati, and bearing the Alfred Moritz Excelsior stamp. A good example from this famous workshop, made with great woods and meticulous workmanship. The sound is wonderful - warm and dark. Trad players will love this fiddle.
Condition. A single wing crack, repaired, and the usual dings and varnish blemishes, but no major repairs or issues.
Set-up: New rosewood pegs and ebony chin rest, new soundpost and bridge, new Helicore strings and Wittner tailpiece. Every Wild Goat Fiddle is checked carefully, and fingerboards and top-nuts are adjusted or replaced as necessary.
